Who says TV anchors have no moves?

Have you ever wondered what television news anchors do during commercial breaks?
Which local TV news anchors make the best team? Well, judging from a behind-the-scenes video clip that has popped up, it’s WGN’s Robert Jordan and Jackie Bange, hands down. The two are shown going through an elaborate routine—complete with coordinated paper-shuffling, precision gestures and various grunts and giggles—that they perform during the first commercial break of their weekend newscasts. They are awesome.

Head Candy has the video, and an interview with Robert Jordan about how the routine came about. Link -via I Am Bored

Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp

Children of the ’70s might remember this Saturday morning show on ABC; apparently Nickelodeon also aired reruns of it in the ’80s. That’s my demographic, but I don’t remember it. Anyway, it’s a bunch of chimps (with dubbed human voices) running around solving mysteries and fighting crime. It’s strangely riveting. Lance Link sounds like Humphrey Bogart and his partner, Mata Hairi, sounds sort of like Fran Drescher mixed with Ruth Gordon.

A Johnny Cash Christmas

I had no idea that June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash did Christmas Specials every year! I got way too entrenched in watching clips from various years, but I liked this one the best.

Thief Returned Terminally Ill Woman’s Camera

Jami McElrath got her camera stolen when a thief broke into her car. When the thief found out that Jami is terminally ill, he had a change of heart and returned the camera:
McElrath, who has inoperable cancer, was collecting photos to place in a scrapbook for her children so they could remember her after she was gone. The camera had belonged to her father, who died of a heart attack two years ago.
The woman told her heart-wrenching story to Dallas-area news station WFAA TV, appealing to the burglar to return the camera. […]
Then something remarkable happened. A few days after the story aired, Douglas got a call from a man who told him to look behind a red car in the station’s parking lot. The caller didn’t leave his name; he said only that he felt bad about the incident and wanted to return the camera.

An Interactive Guide to The Simpsons’ Springfield

This is amazing! It’s an interactive map of Springfield that a fan put together. Click anywhere on the map to zoom in - the black text represents retail stores and the pink text represents restaurants. If you hover your mouse over the green boxes, you can view a screen cap of that particular building.
I can’t imagine the time it must have taken to put this together! Even if you don’t care that much about the map itself, it’s worth it just to go through and read the clever names of some of the establishments - the Texas Cheesecake Depository cracks me up.
