We covered the shadowy game of "squirt-gun assassin" before on Neatorama, but this news is rather disturbing: the game is blamed for car crashes as players try really hard to kill each other!
"They keep knocking people out and the last man standing wins the game," she said. "They were playing Assassin, it got really serious. There were squirt guns and a truck drove into someone’s house and they ended up in the hospital."
Wethersfield Police Chief James Cetran said that in all, three crashes have been associated with the game. He said his department has responded to half-a-dozen calls this week because of Assasin, and in one case a teen was attempting to get away from his water gun attacker.
"They cut in front of a poor unsuspecting motorist and two people were taken to the hospital, including a student. At least one of those accidents they drove in front of a […]

The major league baseball playoffs begin today. While you’re watching the games, check out the patterns cut into the grass. Red Sox groundskeeper David Mellor is considered the top grass artist in baseball. He has even written a book on the subject: “Picture Perfect: Mowing Techniques for Lawns, Landscapes, and Sports”.
“Mowers have been making patterns since 1830, when the first mowers were built,” Mellor said.
He was an assistant groundskeeper at Milwaukee County Stadium in 1993 when a concert badly damaged the grass in the outfield. With the support of the head groundskeeper Gary Vanden Berg, Mellor mowed a busy pattern to serve as camouflage. The design, not the damage, was all anyone noticed.
“I still think that was the coolest pattern he ever made,” Vanden Berg said.
Mellor found himself with a niche, and others followed. The striping side effect of mowing has been creatively rearranged into pop art. With few […]

After spectators complained that the cheerleaders of the University of Idaho’s Vandals football team have been flashing a little more than school spirit, the football team dumped the cheerleader uniforms because … they’re too skimpy!
After the football team dumped the school logo from the buttocks of their new pants, the university in Moscow got complaints that new two-piece cheerleader uniforms were too skimpy.
"A number of fans were concerned that the uniforms were inappropriate," said Bruce Pitman, dean of students. "To be fair, there were a number of fans who liked them."
The outfits that drew controversy, halter tops and short black skirts with white trim, were similar to what an NFL cheerleader might wear, Pitman said.

Seeing a toddler ski is precious, but this kid is serious! 2-year-old Gustav Legnavsky of Wanaka, New Zealand will compete in the halfpipe event at the junior nationals next week. He will be the youngest skier at the competition.
At an age when most children are putting their parents through the terrible 2s, Gustav is instead taking on the 5.7m-high walls of the Cardrona superpipe.
His parents, Pete and Bridget, said the super active toddler had a sports box at home, rather than the average toddler’s toy box.
He can already ride a bike - without trainer wheels - has his own skateboard, likes to roller-blade around the house, and plays golf.
“He’s not a uniquely talented kid or anything,” Mrs Legnavsky claims.
She puts Gustav’s development and early interest in skiing down to the “interesting lifestyle” the family leads, which gives him opportunities many other children do not have.
Gustav’s father is a […]
